UWC Red Cross Nordic (UWC RCN) seeks a passionate and strategic leader to serve as Rektor, driving the school’s mission to provide exceptional education while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant community. The Rektor, appointed by the Board, and serving as the College’s chief executive, will be responsible for all aspects of the College’s day-to-day operations within the strategic and financial policy framework established by the Board.

In this role, the Rektor will lead the school’s development, working closely with the leadership team, faculty, staff, students, and the broader UWC community to ensure that UWC RCN remains a place where extraordinary learning and personal growth occur.

The Rektor will lead with transparency, inclusivity, and a strong presence, fostering trust and collaboration within the community. They will champion academic excellence, engage in long-term financial planning, sustain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders, and embody the school’s values as a moral leader. The Rektor will also collaborate with the Board to set and implement strategic goals, ensuring a balanced and effective work schedule.

The ideal candidate has proven leadership and management experience in international education, with a focus on strategic and operational functions. They are a respected leader with a strong track record in improving teaching and learning. Knowledge of the IB curriculum, as well as experience in managing or working within a boarding school environment is an advantage. Fluency in English is essential, and knowledge of Nordic languages is a plus. A deep understanding of Nordic values and culture is highly desirable.

To succeed in the role, the candidate should be open-minded and intellectually curious with the personality to inspire others and lead a dynamic community. Strong emotional intelligence, effective communication, and a commitment to UWC values are essential. The Rektor must be a confident delegator, culturally aware, and committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community.
